About Then & There
History is easier to remember when you have to read the evidence.
Then & There is a historical scene guessing game built around one question with two parts: when are you, and where are you? Each round presents a reconstructed moment from history. Players study the scene, choose a year, place a pin on the map, and learn from the reveal.
A game of historical deduction
Traditional quizzes often begin with a written question. Then & There begins with visual evidence. Architecture, clothing, uniforms, transport, terrain, flags, tools, materials and city layouts all become clues. A player might recognise an event immediately, but a careful reader can also reason towards the answer without already knowing it.
Time and place matter equally. A correct century with a distant map pin is only part of the solution; so is recognising a city while misreading its period. That combination makes each round a compact exercise in observation, historical knowledge and geographical context.
Daily challenge, practice and progression
The Daily Challenge gives every player the same five scenes for the day, producing one comparable score and a daily leaderboard. Random play offers a lower-pressure way to practise. Signed-in players can save official scores, build streaks, appear on leaderboards and grow their historical rank over time.
The reveal is an important part of the game. It names the moment, shows the correct time and place, explains its significance and highlights useful clues. A wrong answer is not a dead end; it is a chance to learn why a uniform, skyline or piece of technology belonged somewhere else.
Start with a scene, then follow the clues.
