How we use cookies and similar technologies

Then & There uses cookies or similar technologies, such as local storage, where needed to provide account sign-in, security, authentication and basic website functionality.

Cookies are small files or pieces of information stored on your device. Similar technologies, such as browser local storage, can also store information needed for a website or app to work.

Strictly necessary cookies and storage

Strictly necessary cookies and storage are needed for the website to work properly. These may be used for:

• account sign-in and authentication;
• keeping you signed in securely;
• security, fraud prevention and abuse prevention;
• basic website operation and session functionality;
• remembering settings needed for the game to work properly.

You cannot opt out of strictly necessary cookies through Then & There because the service may not work correctly without them. You can still block cookies through your browser, but this may break account or game features.

Supabase authentication

Then & There uses Supabase for account authentication and database features. Supabase may use cookies or local storage to manage authentication sessions and keep users signed in.

Analytics and game events

Then & There currently records basic in-product game events in our database, such as challenge starts, round submissions and challenge completion. This helps us debug the game, understand gameplay flow and improve the experience.

These game events are not currently used for personalised advertising and do not currently rely on third-party advertising cookies, pixels or cross-site tracking.

Advertising cookies and pixels

We do not currently use advertising cookies, personalised ad tracking, TikTok Pixel, Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, Google AdSense personalised advertising or similar third-party tracking technologies.

We may display ad placeholders while testing the layout, but live advertising or personalised ad tracking is not currently active.

If advertising is enabled, Google AdSense or another advertising partner may use cookies or similar technologies for ad serving, measurement, frequency capping, reporting, fraud prevention and personalisation where consent is given. Third parties may also use web beacons or process IP addresses as part of delivering and measuring ads.

Non-personalised ads do not use a profile to choose an ad, but they can still use cookies or similar storage for frequency capping, aggregated reporting, fraud prevention and security.

If non-essential advertising technologies are introduced, we will update this notice and provide consent choices where required by UK, EEA or other applicable law. You can also manage or delete cookies through your browser settings.

Reddit and Discord links

The homepage links to the Then & There Reddit and Discord communities. If you click those links, those services may use their own cookies, tracking technologies and account settings. Their use of cookies is controlled by Reddit or Discord, not Then & There.

Managing cookies

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies or local storage may affect sign-in, account features, saved sessions or other parts of the game.

Future changes

As Then & There develops, we may introduce optional daily reminders, analytics tools or advertising. If those features use non-essential cookies, pixels or similar tracking technologies, we will update this notice and request consent where required before using them.
